Our history

200 years of history in the heart of La Flèche
In the beginning, in 1825

The building, which today houses Le Relais du Loir, was occupied in 1825 by a surgeon, Mr. Flory. The stables and gardens opened onto the Promenade du Pré, which became the Promenade du Maréchal Foch.

It was during the construction of the sub-prefecture, from 1861 to 1863, that this beautiful and large building became the Hôtel du Bœuf, or the Hôtel du Bœuf d’Or, depending on the texts.

“L’Echo du Loir” of March 8, 1874 tells us that it had just been destroyed by fire.

A meeting point The privileged location

The building is located at Nos. 40, 42 and 44 of the rue du Maréchal Foch, between the Place de la Sous-Préfecture, the national road and the Loir. The activities of the market and the port, the boat traffic, the horse watering place, the wash boats, the bandstand concerts, the popular festivals, the military parades, the comings and goings of officers and elegant ladies make it a strategic point for tourists, merchants and walkers.

The Loir Relay, today From 1970 to now

The Hôtel du Bœuf became the Hostellerie du Loir, then the Relais du Loir in 1970, to keep this name. This beautiful building has seen a large number of guests and personalities pass through. Some have left a trace of their passage in the guestbook like Marcel Amont, Aznavour, Sabine Azéma, Germain Pérez, Commissaire Broussard, Laurent Géra, Virginie Lemoine, …
